333' Underground ~ McMinnville, TN ~ Apr 15, 2017
Somewhat recently, I heard about this awesome underground venue. Looks absolutely breathtaking! Thought to myself (and told Red), "Ohhh, HCTM should play THERE!"
Welp, they are!! And, if I'm reading this correctly, it's going to be recorded for a local PBS show. Tickets just went on sale today. Daytime show... in a cave... in beautiful Tennessee... bluegrass opener... during Easter break...

That's one heck of a venue! I wouldn't mind seeing this one.
Just an 8 1/2 hr drive, three hundred feet underground and no smoking or drinking. With a bluegrass band from Naples, IT as the opener.
They ain't makin' it easy for me, are they...
;-)
Nice find, Reino!

The nachos ARE compelling. And I have a soft flask.
(Or...we could all do tequila shots in the parking lot. Before we go spelunking!)
And I can go 3 hrs without a cig. I'll just explore a bit while the Italian bluegrass band is playing. (As far as they'll let me. I think once you're down there, you're restricted to the floor & the terraced standing areas. There's no leaving and coming back.)
But I'm thinkin' I need to glow for this one. Maybe even......audaciously.
And Mish, you could totally do this. It's only 333'.
Fur reel.

Sounds awesome. If it ties in with plans that SrtaB and I are doing, it just may work. Right B?

Caves are cool, figuratively and literally. Always amazing what nature has done.

I do believe I was mistaken about this being recorded for PBS.
Sorry 'bout that.
(I'm starting to think each of their show descriptions starts with "Join us for the Emmy Award-winning Live from the Underground.")
*Edit* …Well… except for the one about the PBS taping.

TDW, I will have to take your word for it. You will never catch me in or near one unless as I stated before I have to be drugged knocked unconscious andcarried into one.

Went on a boat ride through a very low-ceiling and narrow cave once --- I whimpered through the entire trip.
At least with HCTM playing, no one would be able to hear me whimpering . . . . .

Yes, there are low ceilings at times...and then you enter a cathedral with crystals, and stalagtites/stalagmites all over the place and it takes your breath away....and it was totally worth the trip.

I love HCTM and I would go almost anywhere at anytime to see them. Except a cave!

Re: 333' Underground ~ McMinnville, TN ~ Apr 15, 2017
Is it just the idea of it, or is it claustrophobia from the closeness of the walls & ceilings at times?
Re: 333' Underground ~ McMinnville, TN ~ Apr 15, 2017
I'm allergic to tight closed in spaces like caves and elevators and etc. Plus I looked up this place and it's not handicapped friendly which means steep steps probably no hand rails small pathways. Dampness, echos, no windows, doors. Geez I'm about to have a panic attack just thinking about it. Phunky you have no idea.

I hear the cave is always 58° with 98% humidity.

Long shot, but… any locals who can provide some insight about the area?
