Re: Dayton, OH - February 13
Here goes. Brad Shell and Mass wrote on FB, some valid and rational reviews. And I do agree and see the forest from the trees, I do. And in the memory of J "We will all survive this", yes we will I know. But for me, Dayton was the first show for me with out J. VIP and Freak Flag, which they played early in the set, back to back, had me in tears. I looked away for the majority of those songs. By the end 1,2,3 I watched in pure curiosity to see how the shoes would be filled. So, there was a ton of growth for me within that 1.5 show.
I am not going to lie, I am still in a struggle coming to terms with this "surviving" thing. A few of you know this and special thank you to them for our FB messages, talking me down from my struggle tree and reminding me that we HAVE to, MUST go, and support the band. We must continue for them...so, I will CONTINUE. It is a new, new, plain and simple. Not only do we have to get used to it and give it a shot, but so do the boys. This is a learning and growing period for them and a mourning period for us. All we can do is "survive" the best way we know how...as a family.
Cass tried hard, but he was nervous and uncomfortable. But he will grow into it. Midnight has great potential, probably starting at the level J did all those years ago. The stage loves him. They are all in this cocoon trying to grow their caterpillars. And what a blessing we get to watch it happen.
As far as the overall experience of the show I was at. Keep in mind, the amount of shows I have been too is numerous. But this venue was GHETTO and was a terrible stage. Room to move, grove, and synch together as a different unit, very hard and new. For a virgin onlooker, they probably delivered a great show. Now, impart was the venue, but again they are just trying to meld together with this new line up. Get a new "stage relationships/band interaction" of sorts worked out with each other on stage.
The couple new songs got me rocking, I liked them from what I heard the one time. That felt good to hear, new memories with new songs. But you will find yourself filling in, in your head, J's spots. And maybe that is the best tribute we can give him as we continue to support this band.
As rambled as this feels, I gotta get back to work.

Re: Dayton, OH - February 13
I heart you too, Red.
Thank you for an honest and heartfelt review. Everything you said is true -- and I hope more people will appreciate what a struggle this is for the band. We all see a few (or more than a few) shows in a year; the band has to work together week in, week out. They don't have the luxury that we have of sitting back and moaning, head in hands, that J is gone. This is their livelihood, and they have to find a way to make it work. And still maintain the high standards they have always had.
And now Jimmie is here, telling us the band still values its fans and wants our input. I don't think we can ask for more than that.
Thanks again for the little videos you sent me during the show. That's the first time anyone has thought to do that for me, and it meant a lot to me. Made me feel like I was sharing the experience with you.
J was right --- we will survive this. That doesn't mean we won't be sad, doesn't mean things won't be different. But I think we fans and the band are going to survive, and maybe even thrive.

Re: Dayton, OH - February 13
Mish...you are welcome. I will think to do that more often if I am at a show that you are not. If it weren't for you Saturday, my emotions might of forgot the rational thoughts you just wrote, and to me in messages. I do appreciate that YOU said that TO me...
Now, I am not on here a lot. What do you mean about Jimmie and the fan value comment? Did he post that somewhere?
I missed the MG with Cass. I did get to Rah, 12AM, and Eddie. They all were very happy to see long standing, traveling fans. I am positive that we make them feel like they are at home, especially in new and GHETTO like venues when they see us. Just as we feel at home when we see them and our family members. I get whisper of love (as we all do I am sure). Rationally I know it is an act, but part of me thinks it is the mummy way of saying..."Don't worry, I know you are sad, but please keep coming around, it will be OK one day again." And every time we attend, we are in the presence of absolutely great musicians.

Re: Dayton, OH - February 13
Red, Jimmie started two threads in Chatter. He said the band has read our comments and reviews, and appreciates them. He also said they and he want our input on new merch. They are changing merch companies, and hope to have lots more goodies for us in the near future.
I'm glad my words helped --- I'm the calm, reasonable one, remember? ;-)
And that sound you hear is Mr Mish laughing hysterically in the background.
Along with Crush, Dean, Phunky, and everyone else who knows me best. . . . . .

Re: Dayton, OH - February 13
But....That is what friends are for. When one is down, the others step in to pick them up. We both have had our share of that .
That is cool. TTM has neglected to tell me THAT! Makes me feel good that they, this time around, are reaching out to us. Way to go Jimmie and to the band to realize one person CANNOT do it alone.
