Back from Columbia, and it was a grrreat show. They filled up the Blue Note, which has been a regular stop for several years now. It was cold & windy waiting in line (but nothing like New Years!), which is why I always have a medicinal prophylactic tequila with my late lunch/early dinner meal. Weather is unpredictable. At the restaurant, they give you a menu and ask you what you would like.

Anyway, now properly chilled, they changed the 'Door Open' time 3 times, but were still forced to eventually let us in. So me, Beanie and some 'Last Samurai' looking guy who followed us around all night (Note: Possibly Beanie's bf. Not sure. Will ask for clarification. ) rushed the stage and claimed our spots. Grabbed the entire rail from horns to Cass!

And looked kinda silly standing there all alone for the next 45 minutes.

While grinning triumphantly at each other, we had missed the mad dash upstairs to the balcony tables with the convenient upstairs bar.

Ahhhh. It's an AJ Show!
Artificial joints. Got 'em, or need 'em!

And we made it through TWO brass bands.......who played the same song fourteen separate times. I think. I know they meant well.

Anyway, the floor filled up, the boys marched in......and everything took off! The new songs are great and will be more fun when the crowd knows the words, Will Pharaoh can play a trumpet and Midnight is working into his new role quite well.

The magic is still there. It just has a slightly different and unfamiliar flavor.
And I'm looking forward to more.

;-)

Set list
---------
01. My Party
02. Booty
03. V.I.P.
04. Freak Flag
05. Fenk Shui
06. Bump
07. Hard @ Work
08. Bring That Booty Down
09. Kinda Lingers
10. Platinum
11. Peccadillo
12. Make It Shake
13. Pants
14. Ra Ra Ra
15. Single Entendre
16. 1,2,3ple

Encores
----------
17. Pull It Off
18. Attack Of The Wiener Man

We got Eddie, Spazz briefly, Midnight, Rah and Pole at the M&G, which went on for quite a bit and was filled with inebriated happy people.

So, thank you Columbia! And.......woo hoo!

What's next?!

;-)

Nice review, Phunks! Thanks for that!

Good set list --- now we just await all that new music.

As for what's next, may I suggest Terre Haute?

Yay!!! Glad you had a great time! That sounds remarkably similar to our experience at the Moon Bar, and it just increases my restless, itchy feeling - I want another show so bad!!

Seriously considering the drive to Indy on April 14, if anyone else will be in attendance Wink

Nah, he's just some street bum I found on the way to the venue who looked like he could use some booty shaking Wink

Here's that video we were telling you about with the cardboard Strat:

You choose your bums quite well. He was nice, well-mannered and never even asked me for a dollar.

And thanks for the video! Too cool!

A little treat to start your Monday...

First, Midnight flutes us in Columbia, Mo Thur night. Then, Will Pharaoh shows his trumpet skills during Ra Ra Ra.

Oh, thank you, Phunky! What a great way to start a Monday! That gave me a BIG smile!

Midnight can play just about anything, can't he? He's a busy mummy back there in his little corner!

And I'm very anxious to see Will Pharaoh in person. Looks like he is fitting in perfectly.

Great vids, Phunks! You did good.

What were you referring to?

I heard some cheering and "ALRIGHT!!"s at the ends of the songs. Thought that might have been you too.

Nice Java impersonation by the way. . . . . we should all throw those in whenever possible.

Oh, that was probably me too. Closest to the mic and all. ;-)

I had been thinking about doing it. So it WAS premeditated.
And I might do it again. ;-)

But it also makes me wonder how the band would feel about it.

I dunno. Now you get into the interesting territory of how fans shape bands with their reactions, their focus and their wallets.

Because it IS a two-way street.

I don't think the occasional "Yeah, baby!" does any harm, and the band might very well get a kick out of it.

Now if you were imitating Java through all of Fenk Shui or 1,2,3ple, that might be distracting, and thus be a problem.

But a small Java-ism like that? I look at that as a tribute to a great performer that we all still miss.
