Re: Wisconsin St Fair - West Allis, WI - Aug 5
As Phunky mentioned on another thread, I fully expect some texts and pictures during this show. Even if it is only butts and empty tequila bottles.
;-)
Just remember, this show is on my birthday, and I'll be sitting home all alone while Mr Mish is out of town. A couple of group pictures of your smiling faces would cheer me up immensely!

Nuh uh. Your birthday comes AFTER the shows.
That's why it's okay to send you butt pics. 'Cuz it's NOT your birthday.
Think of them as vertical smiles...

I wish I could go to this and have more fun, but that drive is a killer for me and I've already done plenty of that this past weekendm

Oh, uh-HUH. August 5th is SO my birthday.
I should know --- it's been the same date for close to 50 years now.

Looks like I may be able to make the Saturday show, and have some of my family in tow.

Then you either told me the wrong date, or.......you changed it to the wrong date as a teenager?
That's wacky!

Re: Wisconsin St Fair - West Allis, WI - Aug 5
I did say close to fifty years. . . . and I winked.
You may be confused because the big Piere's birthday bash, organized by all my friends a couple years ago, was a few days after my actual birthday.
So all of you, including Derp and family, are charged with partying for me on August 5th.
Preferably while wearing a "Midnight 2016" tee shirt.

Heh. I DID remember Aug 8 as your birthday. (or the 9th)
Apparently gold sparkle paint interferes with short term memory.

But then the next night, Aug 6th, it's all butts & tequila bottles!
Also, we are going to shave B's head at the fair.
We will of course send pics of that too...

What the fuck? Do I need to bring my post-surgery bandana for this show? Have not had to wear that in a very long time...could have told me...and there better be GOOD tequila.

If anyone at this show talks with a mummy or Jimmie, could someone ask who played the trumpet on Underground?
Whoever it is (Will Pharaoh?) that mummy has some serious chops!

I wanna know who sings beautiful, because I really don't think it's Cass

Believe, or Beautiful? Sounds like Cass on both.
I can't really see them doing Beautiful at a show, but......who knows. Maybe we'll get lucky some day.

Re: Wisconsin St Fair - West Allis, WI - Aug 5
Thank you sweet Mish! Okay, the show review: "Jaw dropping, oh my gosh - did you see that? And wait for it...listen...and what is going on over there? "Cass was on fire" quote and end quote". He was all over the stage, stalking, stomping, spinning, twirling, leaping, and side stepping. And, believe it or not, Tut was doing it right along with him (only not quite as high). Midnight beat boxed again on the flute and since I was right down front and center, I could tell how hard he was working at it...amazing, truly amazing. One person who had not seen them since Java's departure confessed to me that she had been a little worried and said this: "I feel bad about saying this...but I don't even really miss Java...!", I told her, "Yeah, they are that good". Whenever I focused one part of this huge stage, I realized that there was something going on somewhere else, whether it was between the four horns (Rah, Midnight, Flu and Will) then it was between Cass and Tut, or between Cass and Rah or Tut and someone else. They were RUNNING from one side of the stage to the next and then zeroing in on the front row...confetti guns between legs, horns between legs and since I was down front and center I could see the faces that Eddie and Cass were making while they sang the lyrics.
We went to breakfast with a new/renew crowd...Valerie, Mott, Kai, Terry, Toby, Luv (MummyLuv) and yours truly (TDW, Jilly Mouth, Phunky Pharaoh and moi)...
And now Wisconisn State Fair, Part two....

So, the boys noticed a girl in a wheelchair tonight and had her brought on stage during leaving it up to you. Rah's solo was directly to her. It was beautiful. Pictures soon.

Re: Wisconsin St Fair - West Allis, WI - Aug 5
Show review: yes, it was SO EFFIN COOL!!!! First of all, when I heard those opening notes to one of my favorite songs (that I have not heard in quite a while), I could not believe it and then when they brought the young woman in the wheelchair on to the stage, my heart dropped (no, really). It was beautiful and at that point I knew that these guys had just taken their show to a higher level, once again.
Now for the rest of it: The crowd seemed even more energetic than on Friday with some people crashing the space where other folks had been all day long...so there were a few tense moments! But, once the show got started, all was forgotten...there was a problem with Cass' guitar and Super Dave came out and tried to do an emergency fix while the show went on. This seemed to work temporarily and we think Cass changed to the other black beauty that is on stand-by. Mummy Rah wore his feather neckpiece again (looked like a turkey dressed up for Thanksgiving dinner according to Sir Phunks a lot!); later on in the show, there was an announcement by Cass and a podium was brought out on to the stage. It had red/white and blue stickers plastered on it that said something to the effect of Midnight, ...2016 and Midnight Mummy was officially nominated for President by the Party Party with the slogan of "Make America Grrr again". He immediately accepted the nomination and proposed that The Flu would serve as Vice-President. We all cheered as they marched around the stage. BEST BAND EVER!!!!
I met a lot of people tonight and cemented new friendships and I passed on the forum address to them so I am so hoping they join. It was such a great weekend...thank you Mummies!!
